THE MUPPETS MOST WANTED is more like THE MUPPETS TRAINWRECK SEQUEL and the irony isn’t lost that they use a train to travel on their world tour (with their manager Dominic Badguy) in what is a disappointing follow up to the wonderful post-modern take on THE MUPPETS.   You have a mishmash of elements, an absurd jewel heist, an evil frog named Constantine who just happens to look like Kermit, a slew of celebrity guest stars (who just don’t really belong in the movie, a Siberian Gulag (and musical sequences there), a clueless investigative pair (of an Interpol agent and a Muppet CIA agent), awkward patchwork of genres, and Tina Fey with a bad Russian accent.  Once Kermit is kidnapped and replaced, the only ones who really notice are Animal and the biggest fan of The Muppets (who was introduced in the last movie) where Fozzie is still very clueless and Miss Piggy is very thick headed (as usual).  On top of it all, I don’t think anyone said they wanted to see the Muppets go to Siberia like ever.   The musical numbers and celebrity guest stars at the gulag just drain the life out of the movie and you feel like you are watching a different movie where the celebrity cameos in The Muppet Show world tour make sense within the context of any Muppet movie or TV show.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

THE LONGER LONGEST BLOOPER REEL IN MUPPET HISTORY is where the Muppets are the highlight of this reel and where the human actors are the least funny in the bloopers.

RIZZO’S BIGGEST FAN is a two minute bit where Rizzo writes an email to the director disguised as a Rizzo fan to plead the case to have Rizzo in the new Muppet film

I’LL GET YOU WHAT YOU WANT MUSIC VIDEO which might fit anywhere except for a Muppet movie even though it  is a great musical sequence to watch once.

Digital HD Digital Copy of the theatrical version

FINAL ANALYSIS: THE MUPPETS MOST WANTED is a total train wreck of a sequel and a disappointing follow up to the wonderful THE MUPPETS.   The extras are a little lacking too and they didn’t include a fun Muppets intermission mode like with the previous movie.
