Sarah Connor strives to protect her son John, the future leader of the war against the Terminators.   Season Two picks up with Sarah, John, Derek Reese, and Cameron continuing the search for the Turk computer which becomes the bad AI computer called Skynet that causes Judgment Day in a few years.   Their fight to stop the future is complicated by further by Catherine Weaver, the cold head of a big corporation and isn't what she appears to be), who wants to develop the turk into a computer named John Henry.   She recruits Agent Ellison to work for her.  Ellison is plagued more by his religion and becomes more involved in his faith.

Then Derek has to deal with his girlfriend from the future, Jesse, who is from an altered future timeline.  John gets a girlfriend, Riley.   Sarah has issues with John's girlfriend.   Also Cameron (the female cyborg sent back to protect John) has difficulties with her programming after someone tried to blow her up at the end of season one.

Season Two kicks the storylines into high gear as John becomes a man and we get several glimpses into the future that Sarah is trying to stop from the POV of Derek, Jesse, and Cameron.   The Terminators are developed as real characters even taking an episode to tell the story of a Terminator who showed up in the 1920s.   Too bad the show was cancelled with such an interesting cliffhanger.   I have heard plans are being discussed on how to continue the show (rumors point to direct to DVD movies like STARGATE SG-1 has done).

SPECIAL FEATURES:

Four audio commentaries-

SAMSON AND DELILAH by Lena Headey, Thomas Dekker, Summer Glau, Shirley Manson, and Executive Producer/ Writer Josh Friedman

ALLISON FROM PALMDALE by Thomas Dekker, Summer Glau, and Executive Producers Josh Friedman, James Middleton and John Wirth

ADAM RAISED A CAIN by Thomas Dekker, Summer Glau, and Executive Producers Josh Friedman, James Middleton and John Wirth

BORN TO RUN by Thomas Dekker, Summer Glau, and Executive Producers Josh Friedman, James Middleton and John Wirth

The firts audio commentary is fun to listen to and too bad Shirley can only join in for the fun of one audio commentary

Deleted scenes for select episodes (6, 9, 10, 13, 18 to 20, 22).

THE STORYBOARD PROCESS: CAMERON GOES BAD shows how the key sequences in the first season 2 episode were mapped out.   Even better is the CAMERON VS. ROSIE FIGHT REHEARSAL show the rehearsal video and comparing it to the final scene.  I love the gag reel.

On disc six is the eight part THE CONTINUING CHRONICLES: TERMINATOR-

WRITE THE FUTURE:  THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES- a look at how the show is written in a group process and molded by show creator Josh Friedman

CONCEPTUALIZATION: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES- the visual effects of season 2

BLOOD AND METAL:  THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES- the make-up effects of the show

DESIGNING DESTRUCTION: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES- the incredible production design

CHOREOGRAPHING CHAOS: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES- the action sequences for SAMSON AND DELILAH and the water sequence filmed for another episode (in a water tank)

WAR STORIES: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES- the challenges the actors are put through when doing the action sequences

SETTING THE TEMPO: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES- the music of Bear McCreary and a look at the recording of the cover version of “Samson and Delilah” sung by Shirley Manson

MOTIVATIONS: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES- a look at the character development of each character and the story arcs for season 2.

FINAL ANALYSIS:  The second season is even more complex and realized than season one.   Check out TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES on DVD if you’re a fan of the first two Terminator films.    The series is worth watching.   Plenty of extras for fans of the show make this another top-notch DVD release from Warner Bros.
