CAPRICA started out strong with a good pilot before being bogged down in the first half of the season.  CAPRICA 1.5 is an improvement over the first half of the series.   The characters and stories move forward much more with a deeper look at the universe of CAPRICA.   Some characters even begin to redeem themselves by the end and a five year jump in the last episode gives a good end to a show that didn’t last long enough due to untimely cancellation by SyFy (due to low ratings).

CAPRICA follows three groups of people that intertwine with each other.  You have the graystones with Daniel Graystone building what will be the Cylons and his wife Amanda is grieving over the loss of her daughter Zoe (and gets involved with a woman who believes in one God and is the leader of a terrorist cell aka STO (Soldiers of The One)).  Zoe's avatar exists and is now in the virtual world of New Caprica City where no one can kill her.   The Adamas are a family that are involved with the Tauron mafia and one of them is the father of the future Admiral Adama.  The third group involve steh various people involved in the STO like Sister Clarice (the leader of the Caprica cell) and Lacy Rand (Zoe's friend).   Their various storylines intertwine as teh groudnwork is laid in this prequel that takes place about over 50 years before the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA series.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

Four podcast commentaries for

UNVANQUISHED

RETRIBUTION

BLOWBACK

THE DIRTEATERS

Two audio commentaries for UNVANQUISHED and APOTHESIS by Executive Producer Kevin Murphy.   If you want to know where the series would have went in the second season, listen to the audio commentary for APOTHESIS and learn why the season was one episode shorter than planned (and the cut episode might have featured Zoe having an encounter with one of the Final Five from the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA series).

A series of deleted scenes are included on the set for UNVANQUISHED, RETRIBUTION, THINGS WE LOCK AWAY, BLOWBACK, and HERE BE DRAGONS.

RE-CAPRICA is a five minute recap of the first half of the first (and only) season.

The video blogs talk about the universe of CAPRICA and the last three focusing on the production elements of the show:

GLOBAL DEFENSE

NEXT GENERATION

ONE TRUE GOD?

CAPRICAN EVOLUTION- focusing on the world building of the show

VISUAL EFFECTS-   a look at the visual effects done by the show’s in-house visual effects team

SOUNDS OF CAPRICA-   the sound design of the series

THE MUSIC OF CAPRICA

FINAL ANALYSIS:  CAPRICA 1.5 shows what the series was meant to be and not the first half of the series which didn’t work for a variety of reasons.  Please listen to the season finale audio commentary if you want to know where the show would have gone.
