Carl Lucas (Luke Goss) is sent to Terminal Island Prison after being arrested for shooting a cop in a bank robbery gone wrong.  He decides to become part of the hot new TV show, DEATH RACE because he has a price on his head by his old boss Markus Kane (Sean Bean).

DEATH RACE 2 is a better than average direct-to-DVD prequel.  It shows about Death Race began and the origin story of Frankenstein.  The action is great even though some of the action in the first DEATH RACE was better.  Still this prequel doesn't disappoint if you're a fan of the first film.  It has fast cars, plenty of carnage, and beautiful women.  It also has a little commentary on the morals of TV shows like Death Race and Death Match.   DEATH RACE 2 (in some ways) may be an enjoyable guilt pleasure to a few people.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
Four out of five deleted scenes were rightfully cut due to being redundant, but I wish they left one scene in.  All of the  scenes are good.  The deleted scenes montage (with and without introduction by the director) has the various cool shots the director cut and even a deleted scene is included in the middle of it.

Three featuretes focusing on the making of DEATH RACE 2 are included on the DVD:
THE RACE BEGINS: THE EVOLUTION OF DEATH RACE- a promo fetaurette on the making of it as cast and crew discuss the prequel.
CHEATING DEATH: THE STUNTS OF DEATH RACE 2-  the director explains he likes to get bigger with stunts and even add more than what was in the script plus Luke Goss did many of his own stunts
FAST CARS AND FIREARMS; THE CARS OF DEATH RACE 2-  all about the cars in the movie

also included is an audio commentary for the film with Director Roel Reine.

FINAL ANALYSIS:  DEATH RACE 2 is an entertaining thrill ride and includes some action stuff not seen in the first film.
