John Farrow (Clive Owen) tries to protect his 13 year old daughter, Mila (Ella Purnell), from a hooded man (known as Hollow Face) that breaks into Mia's bedroom at night.  John tries to keep the intruder out to no avail while teh mvie tells another story of a little boy in Spain who needs protecting from Hollow Face too.   Reality and fantasy begins to blur as the two stories brings events to a supenseful conclusion.

 

INTRUDERS is a tense pyschological horror thriller from Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, director fo 28 WEEKS LATER.   Clive Owens is cast (again) in the role of a father wanting to protect his daughter from a stranger.  This time, the film has a horror film bent as you wonder why only the father and daughter see it (as in the case too with the mother and on in Spain) see Hollow Face.  I wanted more doubt and a good twist at the end.   INTRUDERS comes up with a good horror film bad guy where one could expand on the mythology if they decided to go the sequel route, but unfortunately the story is pretty open and closed by the end despite the one moment of doubt t the end.  The stories converge to reveal the truth about Hollow Face.  It is a fascinating study of the fissures that erupt in a family unit when one family member sees something that the other doesn't.  

 

SPECIAL FEATURES:

Even though the DVD case says the disc has a featurette and Behind-the-scenes footage, the only extras inluded are the theatrical trailer and previews for other movies.

 

FINAL ANALYSIS:   INTRUDERS is a supenseful psychological/ horror film.  Cliev Owen and Ella Purnell hold their own in an expertly directed movie,
