Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) is found breaking into a couple's house and she gets committed to a mental hospital.  She wakes up from the state she has been in and she doesn't remember the terrible events that befell her in THE LAST EXORCISM.  She makes the transition to a halfway house for troubled young women in New Orleans where she gets a job as a maid at a hotel, learn about boys and music, and get some new female friends.  However, things will not stay good for her as Abalam wants her love and cause the end of the world if she gives in.  She finds help from a cabal of good witches.

THE LAST EXORCISM is a movie I thought wasn't that bad until the ending which took a 90 degree turn into wtf.  The sequel, the oddly titled THE LAST EXORCISM Part 2 is a bland and lifeless exercise.  Other than the movie being a good look at how Nell tries to pick up the pieces and move on with her life, the horror movie elements area  complete fail with no scares and not even good horror movie logic.  The movie hints at the cult that surround Abalam, but you don't really get to see any action from the cult that worships this devil.  The movie becomes more lifeless and tedious as it goes on.  They introduce some interesting things only to have the script just waste them.   Even New Orleans is wasted as a location in a film that could have played up the atmosphere and history of the city more and made it another character in this movie.  I just feel the producers and writers decided to make a sequel due to the money the first one made and without finding a good story.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
The DVD has two really short featurettes-
SHOOTING IN NEW ORLEANS- how the producers felt New Orleans gave new life to the sequel
HAIR SALON SCARE- THE LAST EXORCISM PART II GOES VIRAL- Nell and a film crew play practical joke scares on hair salon clients.
Rounding out the extras are previews for THE CALL, EVIL DEAD, DEAD MAN DOWN, SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS, and one other film.

FINAL ANALYSIS:  THE LAST EXORCISM Part 2 is a film you should skip.  It is a poor sequel to the superior original.  This sequel should have been left unmade and I wish i could exorcise the 90 minutes i spent watching it.
