ANALYSIS:

WRATH OF THE TITANS is a solid sequel to the abysmal remake of CLASH OF THE TITANS.   It is more a stronger action driven adventure with one of the major falls being the villains.   Aries had abandonment issues with his Daddy Zeus while Zeus's brother Hades hates being trapped in the Underworld to watch over their evil molten giant father Kronos.   The sequence in the moving maze on the way to the underworld has to be the highlight of the movie.   WRATH OF THE TITANS does however has a sense of been there- done that when it comes to the story of a reluctant hero Perseus called back into action when his son Helius is threatened, and embarks on a mission to save a captured Zeus and stop Kronos from being released   Enough said, I hope we don't see another sequel since they laid waste to the mythology in a time when the Gods are dying off due to no one worshipping them anymore.

WRATH OF THE TITANS is all about the bonds between fathers and sons, and the bonds that are broken between them.   Rosamund Pike is hot as Andromeda (replacing the very talented Alexa Davalos who played her in the CLASH OF THE TITANS remake and oddly missing from the sequel).   Sam Worthington is OK in this film, but he still doesn't match his performance in TERMINATOR: SALVATION.   The Titans and the look of Kronos are a letdown.  Kronos looks like a slow lava man with rock crusted on him (maybe he is so lsow since he has been encased in rock and imprisoned for so long, but still all that build up seems lame sicne his minons move so much faster).

The stopping of the titans from being released and the portrayal of the Gods I liked much better in Tarsem's THE IMMORTALS.  I like the story better in the sequel, but I feel the bad guys were a bit of a letdown compare to the awful remake.   I just hope they don't make another sequel to this movie.  Even though it entertaining, I didn't see the point on why they had to make a sequel.

Three deleted scenes are also included on the disc which were cut for pacing and story reasons.

FINAL ANALYSIS:   WRATH OF THE TITANS is better than the remake it is a sequel to.   Th behind-the-scenes extras offer a wealth of info on greek mythology and the making of the film.
