DON’T KNOCK TWICE is a slow burn (but predictable) chiller that is at least worth a rent, but I don’t count this movie getting a sequel. The movie is inspired by the Knock Dead Ginger urban legend.   In DON’T KNOCK TWICE, there is a haunted house where a witch died.  If you knock on her door once, she will wake from her bed.  If you knock on it twice, she will come from her grave and go after you.  Trouble teen Chloe (Lucy Boynton) defies that local warning and knocks on the door twice.  First, her boyfriend disappears and she runs to the home of her estranged mother, Jess (Katee Sackhoff), who is picking up the pieces of her life and is a successful sculptor/ artist.  Despite strange things going on, Jess doesn’t believe her daughter at first and then she does everything she can to save her from a relentless supernatural force.   The movie has franchise written all over it, but it would be better off as a one off movie since it seems like the great cast seem to be slumming it in this suspenseful and yet predictable horror film.  I guessed the twists long before the main characters found the info.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

There is a making-of featurette that ahs interviews with cast and crew mixed with behind-the-scenes footage and clips from the movie.

Also included on the disc are the theatrical trailer and previews for other release from IFC Midnight/ Scream Factory.  There is also the movie in standard definition on DVD in the combo pack.

FINAL ANALYSIS: DON’T KNOCK TWICE is entertaining and yet predictable horror movie.  Just rent it- don’t buy it.  It is only worth one view despite a great cover jacket image.   If you want to own a movie from director Caradog James, go buy THE MACHINE which is ten times better than DON’T KNOCK TWICE.
