Dominika (Jennifer Lawrence) is a former ballerina forced to go to Sparrow School, a secret Russian spy training program. She is soon thrust into a game to find a mole known as Marble. A CIA operative (Joel Edgerton) is trying to reconnect with Marble, but he feels attracted to Dominika and he questions whether she can be turned or if she is using him.

RED SPARROW is a gorgeously photographed spy thriller. It is very beautiful to look at and it will fill the need for the old time spy thrillers. The casting (Jeremy Irons and Charlotte Rampling are part of the cast) and costume design is fantastic along with the locations used in this movie. RED SPARROW didn't set the box office on fire like those HUNGER GAMES movies that Jennifer Lawrence starred in, but I hope 20th Century Fox does adapt the next two novels in the series because I would be interested in seeing Jennifer Lawrence as Dominika again.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
A NEW COLD WAR: ORIGINATION & ADAPTATION- the origins of the novel and how it came to be made into a movie
AGENTS PROVOCATEURS: THE ENSEMBLE CAST- interviews with the cast about the characters they play and how they came to be cast (and a few were first choices for the roles)
TRADECRAFT: VISUAL AUTHENICITY- the director and the costume designer discuss the costume design of RED SPARROW
HEART OF THE TEMPEST: ON LOCATION- all about the production design and locations used in the movie
WELCOME TO SPARROW SCHOOL: BALLET & STUNTS- a behind-the-scenes look at the ballet sequence that opens RED SPARROW and the stunts of the movie
A PUZZLE OF NEED: POST-PRODUCTION- a look at the editing and recording of the score of RED SPARROW. Interviews with Director Francis Lawrence, Editor Alan Edward Bell, composer James Newton Howard and the guest conductor who conducted the opening theme and the end credits score

10 deleted scenes with optional audio commentary by director Francis Lawrence and the scenes were cut for pacing and clarity reasons

Audio commentary for the film by Francis Lawrence as he talks about the production of the movie and the things that were changed from the book for the movie adaptation

Also in the combo pack is a code to download/ stream a digital copy of RED SPARROW and a DVD of the movie in standard definition

FINAL ANALYSIS: RED SPARROW is a fantastic looking spy thriller with a great cast and costume/ production design (and plenty of twists). I hope the other two novels are adapted into movies. The extras are good, but I wish 20th Century Fox included the trailers for the movie on the blu-ray.
