DOCTOR WHO Season 26 was the last season of the original classic DOCTOR WHO series. It had an overreaching arc for the characters of the Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) and his traveling companion Ace (Sophie Allred). This season would also set up several elements that would set up similar ideas in the new DOCTOR WHO series. This season was also the last season of DOCTOR WHO as a low budget sci-fi show that should have had a better budget all along, but the low budget meant that the series really had to rely on good storytelling. It is also a season where the stories should have been allowed more time to breathe due to the amount of deleted material for stories like GHOST LIGHT and THE CURSE OF FENRIC which would have made more sense for each one.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
One of the biggest special features on this blu-ray release are the multiple versions of three of the four stories showing longer and alternate edits of the broadcast stories. Also almost all of the original DVD extras like featurettes, audio commentaries, making-of documentaries, news stories, deleted scenes, isolated music scores, production text tracks, trailers, and more are among the extensive wealth of extras for this release.

DISC 2-
BECOMING THE DESTROYER

DISC 5-
BURIED TREASURE: 30 YEARS OF FENRIC- this retrospective documentary sees Sylvester McCoy, Sophie Allred, and a couple of the guest cast of THE CURSE OF FENRIC visit the shooting locations

DISC 6-
WRITERS ROOM Season 26- the writers and script editor Andrew Cartmel talk about the stories they wrote for season 26 over a pint at a pub

DISC 7-
IN CONVERSATION WITH SOPHIE ALRED- interviewer Matthew Sweet sits down for an hour long conversation with actress Sophie Allred about her early career and her time playing Ace
SHOWMAN- THE LIFE OF JOHN NATHAN TURNER- this feature length documentary looks at the life, career, and frustrations of the long running DOCTOR WHO producer through his own words which he recorded for his memoirs and interviews with the people who knew and worked with him

Blu-ray trailer- THE PROMISE acts as a trailer for the season 26 blu-ray and a sequel to season 26

FINAL ANALYSIS: The season 26th release of the classic DOCTOR WHO series is another top notch release from the BBC and it will fit great in any DOCTOR WHO fan's DVD and blu-ray collection.
