Director Paul W.S. Anderson knows how to direct action and visually create a world with his movies whether you love them or hate them. I take them for what they are- enjoyable action movies with his best movie always being EVENT HORIZON. MONSTER HUNTER marks his latest collaboration with his wife/ muse Milla Jovovich. Milla plays US Army Captain Artemis who leads her team out into the desert to search for a missing team of soldiers. They end up being transported to another world where monsters dwell and Artemis fights to survive (and get back home). She teams up with a hunter (Tony Jaa) to make the journey to the Sky Tower which creates a gateway between worlds. The only problem with MONSTER HUNTER is that it gives short shrift to many characters and uses this one as a set-up for a possible sequel which may or may not happen due to the pandemic affecting the box office of the movie.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
Fetaurettes go behind-the-scenes with cast and crew
THE MONSTER HUNTERS (7:51)- all about the cast and the characters they play
FOR THE PLAYERS: GAME TO SCREEN (6:40)- translating the video game into a movie
MONSTEROUS ARSENAL (5:02)- a look at the weapons designed for the movie

Two deleted scenes of jokes of one supporting character cut from the movie
Previews for other titles from Sony

FINAL ANALYSIS: I hope there is a sequel to MONSTER HUNTER despite this movie being a big set-up fro a sequel and giving inadequate time to so many characters in the movie so that we can focus on two or three characters for most of the movie.
