ELVIRA'S HAUNTED HILLS is a great parody of the classic Roger Corman/ Edgar Allen Poe movies starring Vincent Price. I think I like this movie better than ELVIRA: MISTRESS OF THE DARK. Elvira returns as she lives in the 19th century as a traveling entertainer who wants to get to Paris to perform in the Parisian Revue 'Yes I Can Can'. She is traveling with her maid Zou Zou but they end up with a carriage ride that ends up where they end up at the sinister Lord Vladimere Hellsubus' medieval castle. Elvira finds out she has an uncanny resemblance to Hellsubus' long-dead wife and she learns of the Hellsubus family curse. She feels an attraction to the handsome stable hand while she tries to find out about the family curse and trying to get away from the castle.

This is the first blu-ray release of the second Elvira movie and the DVD had been on my Amazon wish list for years. Cassandra Peterson is in great form as Elvira and Elura (the dead wife of Hellsubus). There are some great homage to various Edgar Allen Poe movie starring Vincent Price like THE HOUSE OF USHER and THE PIT AND PENDULUM. ELVIRA'S HAUNTED HILLS rifts on Price and Poe like YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN did with the old Universal Frankenstein movies. Definitely, this movie would make a great double bill with ELVIRA: MISTRESS OF THE DARK.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
New video introduction by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark- recorded for this blu-ray
Audio Commentary with Cassandra Peterson, Mary J Smith, and Scott Atkinson, and Director Sam Irvin

Archival featurettes include:
Making-of featurette that looks at how the film was made after studios passed on it and how Elvira funded the movie herself with Romania being the most bang for the buck, TRANSYLVANIA OR BUST featurette as Elvira explores Romania as a place to shoot ELVIRA'S HAUNTED HILLS, and an interview with actor Richard O'Brien
Also old Outtakes and a photo gallery are included

FINAL ANALYSIS: ELVIRA'S HAUNTED HILLS is a great second Elvira movie that is funnier than the first movie. Too bad a third Elvira movie was never made.
