GOD IS A BULLET is a good movie even though it is about a half hour too long with a subplot that could be tightened up or mostly cut to keep the focus on small town cop Bob Hightower (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Case (Makia Monroe) as they are on a mission to rescue Bob's teenage daughter Gabi from a satanic cult called the Left Handed Path (that Case used to be a part of) who also killed Bob's ex-wife and her husband. Bob is told he isn't a police investigator by his boss and he is a desk jockey. He is willing to take a chance on Case and willing to do what it takes to get his daughter back. Case wants to deal with her issues with the cult leader Cyrus, but one wonders if she is helping Bob because she has reasons she sees more important than just helping Bob. Also I think the last scene could have also been cut and you don't need to insert a love story into every movie. The action scenes are great and bloody. The cast make you believe in the characters, but I wish writer/ director Nick Cassavetes would have tightened up the movie's pacing to make it a classic and not just a good film. It is a character driven movie at times with some well put together action sequences. However, you question the transformation of Bob by a character called the Ferryman (Jamie Fox in a small supporting role) that it should have been explored a little bit more and feel like it is quickly ditched later in the movie. You get to know Bob and Case and even get in the heads of the other characters in the movie. Bob is a man driven by his Christian faith where Case knows faith sometimes isn't enough to save you from being bad. I just wish GOD IS A BULLET was a tighter movie. It is based on a novel which is inspired by a true story and the author drew from those events to create the novel. The adaptation of that novel should have been more focused and tighter though.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
BEHIND THE SCENES OF GOD IS A BULLET is a behind-the-scenes featurette with plenty of cast/ crew interviews and behind-the-scenes footage

Also there are trailers for SOMETHING IN THE DIRT and FEED ME which play before the main menu.

FINAL ANALYSIS: GOD IS A BULLET is a good movie and it would have been a great movie if it lost 20 to 30 minutes and left the focus more on Bob and Case while editing down any scene not involving either one. An audio commentary would have been a great extra for the blu-ray because I would have been more interested to hear about the production and story of the movie from the POV of Nick Cassavetes. It is far from a perfect movie which just could have used a tighter script and lost a few sense including the last scene in the movie.
