FUTURE WORLD is like the drug addle B movie child if the movies CYBORG and MAD MAX: FURY ROAD decided to have a baby and got James Franco, Lucy Liu, Milla Jovovich, Suki Waterhouse, and Jeffrey Wahlberg to star in it. James Franco co-directs this movie which couldn’t afford coverage shooting and many scenes were done in one take. It is like Franco and his co-director could have used a mentor figure like B movie gods Albert Pyun or Roger Corman. FUTURE WORLD seems like an interesting crazy film experiment like Franco decided to get a bunch of friends together and shoot a movie quickly. FUTURE WORLD is about Prince (Jeffrey Wahlberg) who leaves the Oasis to find medicine for his sick mother, the Queen (Lucy Liu). He and a friend come across a warlord (James Franco) who has an android he controls called Ash (Suki Waterhouse). She malfunctions and helps Prince escape and they soon come across a Drug Lord (Milla Jovovich). The basic story is simple and many of the bad guys seem obsessed over this android they want to love and kill for them. You just have characters named by the function they serve in the story and Ash is the only one who seems to have anything that resembles a name. Co-directors James Franco and Bruce Thierry Chung (who co-wrote the film) seem like they want to write a post-apocalyptic Mad Max inspired movie inspired by Shakespeare, but it just serves as a good B movie rental which probably will have a cult following or least drinking games around it.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
The behind-the-scenes featurette is basically an interview with co-director and actor James Franco about the movie and we learn they had to really rehearse each scene since they had no coverage to shoot it and they had to get scenes in one take.

Theatrical trailer and previews for other Grindstone Entertainment releases like BENT, EXTORTION, and a couple of others

FINAL ANALYSIS: FUTURE WORLD is definitely a low budget B movie done on the cheap. It is a movie that wants to be a great B movie, but it serves as just a rental. I wish there were more behind-the-scenes material and even an audio commentary. I would have loved to know more about the production of this movie and how quickly it was made.
